The South Hanover Township Volunteer Fire Company is always looking for dedicated individuals to join our team. Whether you're interested in becoming a firefighter, providing administrative support, or helping with fundraising events, we have opportunities for you.

Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old (16 with parental consent for junior members)
- Must reside in or near South Hanover Township
- Must complete the required background clearances (see below)
- Must be able to attend regular training sessions
- Valid driver's license preferred
Required Background Clearances
Pennsylvania law requires all volunteer firefighters to obtain the following two clearances. Both are free for volunteers. Please complete these before or shortly after applying.
PA Criminal Background Check
Request a new Volunteer Record through the Pennsylvania Access To Criminal History (PATCH) system. Select "New Record Check" and choose the volunteer option.
Apply at epatch.pa.govPA Child Abuse History Clearance
Obtain a Child Abuse History Certificate through the PA Department of Human Services. This clearance is free for volunteers.
Apply at pa.govTypes of Membership
Active Firefighter
Respond to emergency calls, receive training in firefighting, rescue operations, and emergency medical services.
Fire Police
Provide traffic control and scene security at emergency incidents and special events.
Social Member
Support the fire company through fundraising, administrative work, and community outreach.

Applications are available at the fire station or you can stop by during our monthly business meetings held on the second Monday of each month at 7:00 PM.
